1) How do I use the hälsa mat and pillow?

2) How do hälsa products work? What is acupressure?

The hälsa mat consists of 8,820 spikes that stimulate your body’s acupressure points.

Acupressure is a form of touch therapy and is very much like acupuncture, although it relies on pressure rather than puncturing the skin.  The hälsa mat and pillow are designed to apply pressure to specific points around your body that are known to promote overall well being. By stimulating these pressure points your body can release natural pain relief hormones. The same feel-good hormones that are also released during exercise, touching, excitement, and infatuation. They all work to promote mental and physical well being. 


3) The mat hurts, is there anything I can do to minimize the pain?

Some of us are more sensitive to pain than others, so your mat may hurt and be too uncomfortable to use at first.  You can reduce your discomfort by putting a thin sheet between your body and the spikes or use a t-shirt.  As you get more accustomed to the mat you will be able to remove these layers for the best effect. 

 

4) I can’t find directions for my mat; can you send them to me?

Instructions are printed on the flier which is located in a pocket on the inside of the transparent protective case your mat arrived in.

5) How long should I stay on the mat?

We recommend beginners start by using the mat for 5-10 minutes per day and increase time spent on the mat up to 15-20 minutes per day. If you feel comfortable enough you can stay on the mat for up to 45 minutes!

Once you get used to the sensation of using your mat or pillow, it is even common to fall asleep.  Falling asleep is safe but the mat and pillow are not intended to replace your primary bed.

 

6) What are the benefits of using a hälsa mat?

The hälsa mat provides relaxation and natural pain relief.  If you experience back pain, insomnia, migraine headaches, or simply want to relax after a long or stressful day, the hälsa mat might be able to help.

The mat has been featured on television promoting weight loss, and while there are no studies to prove the hälsa mat aids in weight loss, our customers claim it does.

 

7) Is there a difference between the three colors, if so what?

Apart from color all of our mats and pillow are identical and offer all the same health benefits.

 

8) How should I care for my hälsa mat and pillow?

The best method for storing the mat or pillow is in its storage bag and in a cool, dry location. To clean, remove the foam core and gently hand-wash the cotton cover.  Some people find it easiest to turn the cover inside-out while washing.  Drip dry only.  Do not use in your washing machine or dryer

 

9) My pet loves it, is that ok?

Some pets love sleeping on the mats.  If you have any concerns, ask your vet, but they probably would not sleep on it if they were not loving it!

 

10) Have there been any official medical studies for the acupressure mat?

A study has been conducted by Karlstad University in Sweden but the official results have not yet been released.
